A recipe doesn't have to be complicated with a lot of ingredients to be fantastic. I love that this one is so simple and will allow the flavor of those purple plums to shine!

Purple is up there in my favorite color range and what a beautiful pastel this is! And what a marvelous recipe.

Congratulations on having two of your still lifes in a juried show. Can readers who can’t get to the exhibit see the paintings in one of your stories?

I encourage you to try the legendary plum torte recipe! It’s a favorite over here and the recipe is also great with apples, pears, and a combination of stone fruit and berries.

I will try the torte! I like the idea of a combination of fruit and berries. Thanks for asking about the art pieces. One is the painting of begonias that was posted a couple of newsletters back. The other is from my Apple Spice Bread post, but a larger version. Artists were allowed to submit five pieces and the two picked I considered the least likely. You never know!

Your artwork is so detailed and amazing, and thank you for the interesting history of purple dye!!

I’ll have to see if I can find fresh plums at the store, you’ve reminded me of that Summertime goodie! Good luck at the show, have fun!

Thank you Peggy. I rarely think of adding plums to my grocery cart, but I had one last ripe one today that was delicious.

I’m a purple girl. I’m wearing it as I write this and just caved and bought some purple glass earrings--just because I’m such an addict! The story of the snails and the royal purple prerogative is fascinating!

As for desserts with plums, I’m all in and have written about that famous New York Times plum torte recipe from Marian Burros too--it’s a winner, but so is the simple plum crumble you dreamed up! I can’t wait to try it! I like that it has only one tablespoon of sugar.

Good luck in the show! I love all the still life’s and other art you post here!💜
