Never ever knew one could make homemade gingerale.....silly me....everything used to be homemade! Looking forward to trying it.

I have more mint than I know what to do with in my little herb garden; it’s encroaching on my thyme and chives. Mint truly has no boundaries!

I am excited to test this out on an upcoming porch potluck, thanks, Vicki,

I can't believe that I managed to destroy my mint. Hope you enjoy the ginger ale. A porch potluck certainly sounds fun!

Thanks for demystifying the making of ginger ale. I'm going to try making it once ginger shows up at the farms around here. How fortunate you are to have such a well-stocked herb farm nearby. How does one choose between 39 varieties of basil?!

I've thought about making a soft drink but never done it--this ginger ale sounds like the ticket. Do you think whiskey or vodka would work as mixers too?

I just downloaded Ice--it sounds like a refreshing read! I just finished James McBride's The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store--thought it a masterpiece, sad in places but incredible writing and a great story and characters. As always, your pastels, photos and storytelling are wonderful, Vicki!

Thank you, Ruth! I'm not much of a mixologist, but I think whiskey would work. I have been meaning to read James McBride. Thanks for the encouragement to follow through. Hope you enjoy Ice!

James McBride’s memoir, The Color of Water, written almost 30 years ago, is another fantastic book, considered a classic among memoirs.

This drink sounds so good! I love the way “medicinal” drinks got around Prohibition restrictions!

Ah! This drink sounds so refreshing! It’s simple enough for even me to try!! Thank you once again for delving into the background of things we often take for granted, like ginger ale, ice and the availability of certain herbs.
