Your salt cellar story reminds me that my mother, too, had a small collection of silver salt cellars with glass dishes that she brought out only when we had company for the holidays--just a few people from the church who were single and had no family in New York. I must have those salt dishes somewhere, but in moving several times they have gotten lost among all the other stuff here somewhere.
What a lovely pastel. A family Thanksgiving in lower Manhattan and no cooking sounds pretty great! I wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving, Vicki! We too are going away, but I’ve been contemplating making a quick bread to bring along as they travel better than pie. Maybe it’ll be your cranberry walnut bread! Love the beautiful salt cellar collection, the flower pastel and all your wonderful stories!🤗
Salt cellars are precious in a long gone memory. Thank you for reviving that and its history. A sweet post.
Glad you liked it, Sally. Thanks for letting me know!
The salt cellar collection photo is art in itself! Reminded me of my grandmother, who lived and died by her salt cellars
