Vicki, I do enjoy how you connect the tariffs of today to ads for foreign goods in a 212-year-old broadsheet (wow, what a collector your dad was!) to a lovely carrot recipe for Easter. So fascinating--and the recipe looks delicious, especially in that bowl on that tablecloth with that painted figurine. Happy Easter to you and yours!🐇
Newspaper is so beautiful. I can see the subscriber's name written in script at the top. In the photo it almost looks like the figurine is a cover for the dish, if it weren't too small to be so.
I am fascinated by all the antiques and historical documents in your collection and how they find their way into your stories. Your carrot recipe is intriguing, and I love the combination of flavors.
Thank you for such an interesting article! There is So much to be gleaned from old newspapers! I hope you find someone, or a library, who might be interested in your Dad’s collection, if you have to find a new home for it. Thank you too for exploring the spices!

Thank you, Ruth. Happy Passover to you!
This, exactly! Not just making historical analogy but connecting it to an artifact!
It was great fun discovering that old newspaper!

Interesting observation about the little figurine. She was hard to photograph, but she was just so perfect for the time period.

Thanks, Amy! It has been enjoyable to delve into some of the artifacts that my family collected. It can be like holding history in your hand.

This post is fascinating, Vicki and I love how you managed to weave it all together! Gorgeous carrots, pastel and the ones you can eat!
Thank you, Jolene!
Another very interesting post. Lovely pastel and delicious sounding recipe! Thank you!
Thank you, Caroline!
I like the contrast of the green and orange. Sounds like a good side dish. I make preserved lemons so I’ll give it a try! Thanks!
I was thinking of making my own. It seems pretty simple, yes?
Yes, very simple. I’ve tried these two, the npr one worked the best. I’ve also canned them and sold them at farmer’s markets.
