I love your description of life drawing. I tried it once or twice and never felt I created anything memorable, but it was a good practice and I’d like to try again. Your beautiful drawings are inspiring--as is that apple spice bread recipe. I WISH I had a box of apples, but it seems our local farmers markets are all about citrus right now. Maybe a marmalade cake!
“Sometimes a mood is better captured with less realism, in my opinion anyway.”
These are such wise words for artists and writers to remember. “Real” does not necessarily equal “true” when it comes to art. And I love this week’s painting. You’re inspiring me to get back to my oils! 😊
You have lucky neighbors! Here's a suggestion for an apple recipe if you want to try something a bit different, which is the Apple Charlotka recipe from Smitten Kitchen: https://smittenkitchen.com/2012/01/apple-sharlotka/
What a nice illustration of the tea cup and sugar bowl. I like how you focused more on the shapes than the precise design.
I like the idea of going to school again, it’s brave! When one gets to a certain age, sometimes we think we don’t need more learning, but what a wonderful and refreshing thought!
I have a similar box of apples, in addition to your list, I made apple dumplings. Warm with vanilla ice cream. Spectacular!
So glad to hear that you’re still refining your art skills & vision, despite your talent being so wonderfully obvious! Your description of “life drawing” class certainly brought back memories of art school! Those kids don’t know what a gift it is to have you in their class. I hope you continue to enjoy it despite their behavior!💓

Thank you Ruth! Marmalade cake sounds amazing.

Thanks so much Sam!
Exactly! And, like our memories, a hazy dream. The soft blur of your grandmother’s teacups perfectly captures the mood.
(Nice job on the printable recipes, Vicki!)
Thanks Amie. Yes, I finally remembered the pdf!
A warm and wholesome newsletter :)
Than you David!

Thanks Peggy. It really does take me back to freshman year. I think that is part of the reason that I enjoy the class!
Most excellent!
