I think mediocre Chinese food is probably worth it just for the leftover white rice to turn into fried rice. Not so sure I could say that grandchildren’s popsicles are so worthwhile, though the grandkids are—or so I hear!

Hope you feel better soon, Vicki!

You had me at “Never finish a toddler’s popsicle”! Summer colds are the worst! Hope you are on the mend.

My favorite remedy for a cold is also Asian-inspired: a big bowl of Vietnamese Pho Ga, topped with a lot of sriracha! Hope you’re feeling better, Vicki.

Whenever Lori or I caught something a little one brought home, we called it The Daycare Crud. Always worse for adults. My mother often turned her leftover rice into fried rice. While not the same as takeout, it was always yummy.

It hit me hard!

I feel your pain, Vicki! I’m glad you’re on the mend now though and fried rice sounds like comfort food indeed.

What is it about toddler germs that makes them so potent? When my husband and I arrived at our son and daughter-in-law‘s house last month to babysit, we noticed our two year-old granddaughter was sneezing a lot. It turned into a fairly little cold for her, but within two days, I had a pounding ear and felt quite miserable. My husband was gloating that he was fine, but by the time we arrived home a few days later, he had the cold of a lifetime. He’s still coughing! We’d go again in a heartbeat though… those littles are worth it.

Yes! So worth it. Sorry that you and your husband both got sick! Thanks for commenting.

In spite of your cold, it all sounds wonderful to me. It’s too warm and raining here today, but we need the rain desperately, so no complaints here. As I drink my coffee this morning, looking out at the rain, I think I’ll have to make fried rice for dinner tonight….i love it! Except, that means I have to get out of my chair and go cook some rice now.
